Temilade Openiyi AKA Tems Receives Second U.S. Platinum Plaque

Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, a fast-rising Nigerian singer, is scheduled to earn her second platinum US certificate.

After American rapper Future rushed to Twitter to clarify the Nigerian artist's credit on the album, the 26-year-old Lagos State-born diva earned double platinum on Monday.

"Even though 'Wait For U' is a sample and not an original song, if you weren't familiar with her music, I still put Featuring @temsbaby," he wrote. Thank you very much, Tems."

Future collaborated with Tems and Drake on the track, which was released on May 3rd. Future's eighth studio album, 'II Never Liked You,' features the song as the second single.

Tems, who co-wrote the song with Canadian rapper Drake, will be certified for the second time in her career in the United States.

Platinum certification in the United States indicates that an album has sold one million copies or a single has sold two million copies.

When 'Essence' sold one million copies, Tems won her first Platinum plaque in October 2021.

Tems has been featured on the albums of worldwide superstars like Drake and Future after receiving international notoriety and a Grammy nomination for "Essence."
